• What is a Fingerstyle Arrangement?

edplayingFingerstyle arrangement is a term adapted from what was commonly known in Jazz terminology as “chord melody”, which is when you take a popular song and play it as a solo on the guitar so the melody can be heard along with the chords. An artist is free to play it the way he or she wants, not “exactly like the record”. There really is no right or wrong when making an arrangement but one guideline I always like to follow is to make sure the listener can clearly hear the melody so they know what the song is.

Here is an example of me using a fingerstyle arrangement playing “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”.
