Combining Sixteenth Notes
Combining the five most common divisions of the beat.

The Tie and the five most common divisions - This video is very important as it will explain and demonstrate the use of the rest and the five most common divisions of the beat before you combine them. Watch video.                                                           

The following rhythms use combinations of the five most common divisions of the beat with sixteenth and the tie.

This rhythm uses an eighth note with two sixteenth notes on the first and third beats and groups of four sixteenth notes  on the second and fourth beats. The last sixteenth of the first and third beats is tied to the first sixteenth of the second and fourth beats. Watch video.

 

This rhythm uses two sixteenth and an eighth note on the first and third beats and groups of four sixteenth notes on the second and fourth beats. The eighth note on upbeat of one and two is tied to the first sixteenth of the third and fourth beats. Watch video.

 

This rhythm uses a sixteenth, eighth and sixteenth on the first and third beats and groups of four sixteenth notes on the second and fourth beats. The last sixteenth of the first and third beats is tied to the first sixteenth of the second and fourth beats. Watch video.
