Introduction - Please watch this video first as it will cover the most important elements you need to proceed through the course.  Watch video.                                                           

The first four rhythms will establish the most important element in basic rhythm for strumming on the guitar which is moving your arm from the elbow with a steady continuous motion.

These are quarter notes written in slash or rhythmic notation. Each quarter note gets one beat and will be strummed in the down swing. The arm will lift in the up swing with out hitting the strings. Watch video.

 

 

This rhythm has a pair of eighth notes on the second beat. Each eighth note gets a half beat so the first one is strummed on the down swing and the second on the up swing. Watch video.

 

 

This rhythm has a pair of eighth notes on the second and fourth beats. Watch video.

 

 

This rhythm has a pair of eighth notes on the second and third beats. Watch video.
